Model locations like the floor actually looks
Create Warehouse and Area entries that match reality—“Maintenance Shop / Shelf B Bin 2,” “Garage / Aisle 3 Bin 1,” etc. When Antero inventory locations reflect your site, techs walk straight to the bin, counts move faster, and mistakes shrink. Use clear, consistent names so anyone can read a location and know exactly where to go.
Why detail matters
- Faster picks: Techs go straight to the bin.
- Cleaner audits: Cycle counts map one-to-one with Antero inventory locations.
- Better transfers: Moves between precise bins keep history useful and easy to review.
Build clarity into the Parts grid
Add Warehouse and Area columns via Show Column Chooser. Group by Warehouse to see stock distribution at a glance, then save your layout so those columns stay visible next time you open Antero. This keeps locations front-and-center during daily work, cycle counts, and spot checks.
Tie locations to reorder logic
Min/Max levels live on each Warehouse/Area row. That means a critical spare in the Maintenance Shop can have a different minimum than the same part staged in the Garage. Set the threshold where the part actually sits so replenishment reflects real usage.
Use history to validate layout
Open Transfer Parts History to review completed location moves and scan for bins that bounce stock around. Check the Parts Audit tab to see Date Recorded, Usage Date, Source, Warehouse, Area, Quantity Change, User, and Audit Description. If a bin shows constant transfers or adjustments, consider renaming it for clarity or relocating the stock to reduce noise.
Practical setup tips
- Start with your most-used parts. Align names (Warehouse / Area) to the signage techs see on the floor.
- Keep names short and consistent (e.g., “Maint Shop / Shelf B Bin 2”).
- Save a Parts grid layout with Warehouse grouped and Area visible; make it your default.
- During cycle counts, open the same layout so counting follows the exact Antero inventory locations shown on screen.
Result
A location model that mirrors your building speeds up picking, simplifies counting, and keeps transfers clean. The payoff is fewer detours, clearer history, and tighter control over what sits where.
